Web/Graphics Coordinator (Bethesda, Maryland)

The American Gastroenterological Association, based in Bethesda, Maryland, has a newly created position for a Web/Graphics Coordinator. The position will be part of AGA’s communication team, reporting to the department’s Editor/Program Director. The Coordinator will work closely with both the creative services manager and the Web/ e-communication specialist to enhance deliverables prepared by the communications department.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Web
• Use website content management system to review and approve content for www.gastro.org and www.ddw.org.
• Assist in production of weekly and monthly e-mail newsletters.
• Prepare html versions of blast e-mails, send tests, make revisions, finalize for distribution.
• Monitor gastro.org discussion boards and page comments (features to launch in 2011).
• Monitor online traffic reports for gastro.org, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and AGA blogs.
• Provide graphic direction and content back up for social media sites and blogs.
• Develop online advertisements and graphic features/highlights for use on home page and primary navigation pages of websites.Graphics
• Work closely with senior manager of creative service on in-house design projects. After initial concepts are developed, make design and editorial changes to finalize materials.
• Manage AGA’s in-house print and online advertising program. Create new advertisements and update existing ads for publication.
• Work within established visual brand standards to develop original design concepts for smaller in-house projects not handled by senior manager.
• Update text and make sizing revisions for design projects that are re-used from one year to the next.
• Develop collateral materials for AGA courses: signage, walk-in slides, syllabus covers.
• Edit videos, create AGA-branded slates for online videos, upload videos to AGA’s YouTube channel.
• Conduct art research, identifying appropriate branding-compliant images and illustrations for design projects.
• Format documents and presentations to conform to AGA branding standards.
• Adapt print design materials for online use.Qualifications:
• Proficient knowledge of: Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Dreamweaver), Quark Express 8, basic HTML programming, Microsoft Office.
• Desired knowledge of: Web content management systems, the Ruby on Rails language, iMovie and Associated Press editorial style.
• Content development/editing experience and is also desirable, as is social media knowledge.
• Able to perform job duties on a PC and a Mac.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience.
• Basic understanding of Web page development, including proficiency with HTML, Dreamweaver, and FTP; knowledge of Photoshop and XML; and experience with Adobe Web publishing products.Please e-mail resume and cover letter including salary expectations to e-mail address listed.
