Tarmac has an exciting contract-to-hire opportunity with a mid-size employer in the College Park, MD area. This position emphasizes the learning of new technologies and growing with the team!
POSITION SUMMARY
Design and develop content management product using REST, Develop different application layers using server side scripting using non-blocking IO, Work with client side team to develop interfacing requirements, Participate in Agile software development processes. The job is to expand the capabilities of a sizable content management application written in server side javascript with Persevere 2.0. The application runs on top of rhino backed by mongodb and lucene. The primary focus will be on the HTTP APIs between the backend and various client interactions.SCOPE
This is an extremely hands-on position, with intense, daily interaction with all members of the team. Fast-paced, flexible, and innovative mindset required.SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrable, extensive software development experience in dynamic languages Experience with server side scripting using non-blocking IO is mandatory (javascript experience in particular would be valuable).SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with client-side team members to support business needs
• Extend core persistence software (built on the Persevere framework)
• Participate in Technical design and code reviews
• Support production issues for various data feed processing
• Work in Agile development environment for rapid and maximum through put
• Monitor and report progress on Project schedule to Project Manager and Team lead
• Excellent communication skillsQUALIFICATIONS
• Min. 5 years’ Software development
• Strong dynamic language knowledge (specifically javascript, SSJS)
• Experience in developing REST style APIs and SOA
• Strong background or knowledge in XML and JSON
• Familiarity with XSD, XSLT and XQuery (even better if experienced with the JSON equivalents)
• Strong experience in Persevere and/or Java
• Experience with version control, unit testing and deployment
• Experience managing or contributing to open source projects (include your github username if you have one)LOCATION
