About the job:
NMAC is seeking a dynamic GrantsWriter and Proposal Manger. The Grants Writer and Proposal Manger is responsible for all aspects of raising support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects.
The ideal candidate displays an entrepreneurial spirit, is a self-starter who can manage multiple tasks, and is comfortable working in fast-paced, flexible environments. He or she will be deeply motivated by NMAC’s mission of Developing Leadership in Communities of Color to END the HIV/AIDS Epidemic.
Position Overview:
• Performs research on available grants, awards, etc. and writes all grant proposals
• Assists in the implementation of the grants
• Assists the Director in working with partner organizations to assess and develop NMAC programs
• Work to produce sufficient number and quality of prospects; to produce extensive institutional donor profiles; target appropriate ask amounts; and prioritize and evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation, and government grants
• Develop and prioritize projects and proposals: meet and work with staff to elicit projects and programs that need support; manage monthly meetings to vet projects and programs and set priorities for funding
• Develop and foster relationships with institutional funders: find personal connections with staff, board, and donors that will ensure the attention of institutional funders
• Make appointments for Director of Development, Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and others with potential funders
• Provide stewardship for existing donors
• Generate proposals for: unique projects and programs; unique institutional and individual funders
• Manage existing grants by: tracking grants; writing reports; working with finance on proposal conditions and expectations
• Assist with other fundraising projects as requestedQualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or related field or equivalent combination of five to seven years’ of progressive work experience with grant writing and management preferably in the non-profit field.
• Proven track record of successful grants from foundation and government sources
• Program development experience preferred
• Previous experience with non-profit fundraisingSkills & Characteristics:
• Knowledge of fundraising information sources
• Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors
• Proven track record with institutional donors
• Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; superior presentation skills
• Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research
• Experience with budget development and monitoring
• Experience in program development
• Knowledge of contracts and agreements
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Must be able to work well both independently and with others
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment
• Excellent computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookCompensation is competitive, based on experience and educational qualifications.
NMAC will not reimburse interview travel costs.
