FDAnews seeks a highly motivated healthcare editor/reporter to report and write daily articles on global regulatory, legislative and legal news affecting executives in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. This person keeps track of regulatory actions in the UK, European Medicines Agency and regulatory bodies for other countries and regions including emerging markets. The reporter works as part of a team writing hard news for daily, weekly and monthly publications with tight deadlines. The ideal candidate has a degree in journalism, English or another applicable subject and at least one year of reporting and writing experience. Also required are sound news judgment, an aptitude for networking with professional contacts, strong writing skills and the ability to analyze and write quickly. Experience covering federal agencies and Congress is desired. Daily experience is a plus, as is knowledge of the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of other languages is a definite benefit. Some travel is involved. This position is full time and in-house at our Falls Church, Va., location.

Responsibilities include:
Becoming a subject-matter expert to whom subscribers and colleagues turn for answers;
Meeting daily, weekly and monthly deadlines;
Reporting complex topics accurately, clearly and concisely;
Attending and reporting on industry and government meetings;
Conducting phone and face-to-face interviews with industry executives and government officials;
Developing industry and government sources; and
Analyzing events and information to bring insight and analysis to written articles.
