Director, Strategic Programs Business Development

Position Summary:
Lead Business and Strategy development for the USTRANSCOM and USAF Market Area. Orchestrate Business Development of the Strategic Programs opportunities in collaboration with the Senior Director Business Development and Senior Director of Strategic Programs. This position is responsible for understanding, being conversant in and shaping current Business Development trends and opportunities within the USTRANSCOM and USAF market. Manage, facilitate and track opportunities within this Market area from identification through contract award or no-pursuit decision.

Position Overview:
Senior manager directly responsible for managing opportunity development within the Department of Defense, Commercial and International Markets.
Position entails full account management responsibility with leadership within the customer community and internally to effectively represent the tactical and strategic interests of the Company.
Must have a true ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRT, as this is a rapidly and aggressively growing company.
Must be able to connect with mid-level to senior managers in the customer’s organization.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in related field, Master Degree is desired
• 7 years recent experience providing senior advice or management responsibility in the Department of Defense Business Development or 3 years or more of marketing experience in the private sector with a prior defense background.
• Demonstrated understanding of the USATRANSCOM and/or USAF organizations and missions with specific emphasis on customer needs, preferences, policies, and operational concepts
• Demonstrated understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations and specific emphasis on customer purchasing needs, preferences, and policies.
• Strong and active network of customer contacts
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with senior levels of military leadership and other defense contractors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – active listening, ability to articulate customer’s environment and needs to all management levels.

Skills and Abilities
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and proven experience in:
• Ability to coach and mentor new and existing Market Analysts.
• Ability to travel with a valid passport
• Flexibility to work where needed within the Business Development division.
• Understanding of and conversant in issues associated with Strategic Programs Division
• Writing Technical documents specifically proposals, RFIs, white papers, etc.
This position also requires the ability to do complex multi-tasking and have an advanced level of organizational skills. Must have advanced problem solving skills. This position requires highly advanced communications skills, both oral and written, as the position may deal with customers, internal peers, managers, executives and many others.

Education and/or Experience
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or a related field. They will also have practical experience in a corporate or non-corporate work environment. They may have additional experience (10+ total years) in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree.
