Audio Visual Technical Director (Reston, VA)

  • Swank Audio Visuals has an exciting job opportunity in the Northern Virginia marketplace. Swank Audio Visuals is one the nations leading hospitality suppliers of audio visual services to the hotel industry. We partner with national branded hotels as the "in-house" audio visual provider and manage the day to day operations of the audio visual department. Swank is on the cutting edge of technology and provides outstanding "Corporate AV" to our clients.

    We are seeking a top notch Technical Director for the Northern Virginia marketplace. As a Technical Director you will be based at one of our large hotel partners venue, however you will be involved in overseeing and supporting a number of properties in the market as well as working on "Off-site" (other venues) opportunities in the market.

    Your expert experience in the following disciplines could qualify you for this GREAT job:

    TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
    - Live: Audio / Video / Projection / Lighting experience
    - Proficiency with computer software and programs, including the Internet and Microsoft Office.
    - Four years of technical direction experience in a hotel and/or live show environment.
    - Working knowledge of CAD based drawing software.
    - Industry/Factory Certifications are helpful

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    - Oversees the technical operation of live shows and events.
    - Directs the workflow of audio visual team members.
    - Provides technical development and training to team members.
    - Facilitates the technical communication between the Swank team, facility team and clients.
    - Acts as a technical consultant to the team by developing innovative solutions on show sites.
    - Works closely with the Swank sales team to enhance the audio visual needs in order to ensure technical success and increased revenues.
    - Determines the appropriate equipment and services based on the customer’s requirements and the physical layout and the technical capabilities of the meeting facility.
    - Develops CAD drawings.
    - Designs, sets up and operates high-end equipment.
    - Verifies that sufficient labor and equipment are arranged for upcoming events.
    - Manages team members and outside labor during events.
    - Takes a lead position in inventory control and quality control procedures.
    - Takes initiative for self-growth, learning all aspects of new equipment and services.
    - Conducts at least two equipment training sessions each year.
    - Other duties as needed.
